Shady Elms Farm

Nestled in a valley of the rolling hills of western Pennsylvania, Shady Elms Farm is the perfect setting for a country inspired wedding, reception, or any type of gathering. Rustic elegance is felt when you enter the wagon shed with its exposed wood beams and crystal chandelier. With its brick patio and flower garden it is a wonderful place for a small gathering or for hors d’oeuvres. The flower covered trellis and glistening pond are the backdrop for a beautiful outdoor wedding or a tented party. A 60 by 100 foot stained concrete patio with a 24 by 40 foot inlaid dance floor is the ideal base for a pristine white tent decorated to your style.

Established in 1840, Shady Elms Farm is a 138 acre farm that has been owned by three generations of the John Caldwell family for 77 years. John farmed the land, ran a dairy, raised beef cattle and chickens and was a school teacher. He and his wife Helen raised 6 children here. In 1975 John’s daughter Marjorie and her husband Connie Curran, took over the farm continuing with the farming of crops and ran a bed and breakfast in the sprawling farm house from 1987 until 1994. In 2002 their daughter Jane and her husband Gary Cowden, began a horse boarding business at the farm. It continues to this day as well as harvesting crops while in 2010 they became the third generation to own the farm. Horses run in the 15 acres of pasture as well as beef cattle grazing in the picturesque valley. The large Georgian style home is the perfect back drop to any occasion.
